Moments in Time

Saturday morning I was sitting on the deck sipping my coffee and reading my book.  Although the reading wasn’t going so well.  I was consistently interrupted by all of the little woodland creatures who co-habitat in and around our yard.

As I tried to capture a really awesome picture to share with you (never happened, they are too darn speedy!) I was reminded of a conversation that I had with my friend Cheryl a couple of years ago.  I was telling her about a time when I was on a cruise with my friends.  We had all branched off one afternoon to enjoy different adventures.  I was back onboard first and enjoying the view from my stateroom balcony.  I looked down and noticed a sea turtle swimming directly below me!  It was SO cool! I wanted to take a picture but I was afraid if I turned to grab my camera I would lose it.  I stayed and watched it peacefully float around the beautiful Caribbean blue ocean.  All of a sudden it waved it’s front flippers and dove out of sight.  When I told Cheryl that I was sorry I hadn’t gotten a picture she looked at me and said “you weren’t meant to, that moment was just for you.”.

I frequently think about those words of wisdom from Cheryl and smile to myself…just for me.

I like to have fun as much as the next gal, however I am very much a homebody.  My favorite weekend is the one with zero plans.  This long holiday weekend did not disappoint.  Jenn had me over for lunch on Friday.

Phil found a “Fast and Loud” marathon on Saturday.  I know way more about cars than should be allowed.

I managed to push through a 3 mile run on Sunday morning.  I started on the street and finished up on the track.  I cannot decide which is more boring, the track or the treadmill.  Nah, it’s the treadmill!  I had a lot of pain in my neck but I knew I wasn’t damaging anything so I pushed through.  I think I just might be able to tackle the Red Dress Run next weekend! Stay tuned.
